Remembering The Life Of John Walter Nicholson
John Nicholson was a hero in every sense of the word. A devoted father, brother, son, and cousin, he was also a decorated police officer who served with unwavering dedication. Beyond his uniform, John was an avid hunter, fisherman, and skilled craftsman—always creating, always giving. He was the guy everyone loved, but also the one you knew not to cross. John was many things to many people, and his impact continues to live on through the John Nicholson Legacy. He battled multiple sclerosis (MS) with resilience until his passing in 2020. He is survived by his sons—John, Brian, Cameron, and Randy. His Mother Maryann, his father John, and his brother and sister William Nicholson and Nancy Kick—who now carry forward his memory and mission. This website is a tribute to his life, his achievements, and his fighting spirit. It is also a space to support ongoing fundraising efforts for a cure for MS. Through events, stories, and shared memories, we honor John’s legacy—because heroes like him should never be forgotten.

Walk MS: Helping Find A Cure
Starting in 2023, his son Randy started a team called "The John Nicholson Legacy" with Walk MS: Raleigh that annually fundraises to find a cure. John was diagnosed with Progressive-Relapsing (PRMS) MS which was the primary cause of his early passing. Here are some of the stats of the previous years and how much we were able to fundraise. Every year we raise the bar to help fund research to find a cure for this horrible desease as well as to spread Johns story and keep the memory of him alive.
